Allah says

Allah said in the Qur’an (translation of its meaning):

• The pleasure of your Lord!

And for your eternal life, there is a promise of a house in Jannah with:

• Gardens with rivers of honey!
• Walls built of bricks of gold and silver!
• Mortar of fragrant musk!
• Pebbles of pearl and sapphire!
• Soil of saffron!

The Explanation

The parable in the Ayah is more impressive on the heart than merely mentioning the number seven hundred. This Ayah indicates that Allah ‘grows’ the good deeds for its doers, just as He grows the plant for whoever sows it in fertile land.

The Sunnah also mentions that the deeds are multiplied up to seven hundred folds. For instance, Imam Ahmad recorded that Abu Mas’ud said that a man once gave away a camel, with its bridle on, in the cause of Allah and the Messenger of Allah said:

“On the Day of Resurrection, you will have seven hundred camels with their bridles.”

Wallahi, this is your opportunity!

Mutarrif reported on the authority of his father:

I came to Allah’s Apostle ﷺ as he was reciting:
“أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ (Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you.)”

He said:

The son of Adam claims:

“My wealth, my wealth.”

And he said:

“O son of Adam, is there anything as your belonging except that which you consumed, which you utilized, or which you wore and then it was worn out, or you gave as charity and sent it forward?”

[Sahih Muslim 2958 a]

What does that mean?

We are diverted by materialism; we want to increase our money and belongings. But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reminds us that whatever we consume, wear and spend in this world; it will finish. It has no further value than the immediate benefit that we experience.

But! What we give for the sake of Allah, that will remain!

The day money can’t buy you Ajr, the Day the high status of a king will be of no benefit. On that day, the currency that will be accepted will be the Sadaqah you sent forward in this Duniya.

If you send $5 000 forward for your Akhirah, He SWT will in sha Allah give you 700 times in return – which is $3 500 000. In addition, you will in sha Allah harvest the reward of all the good deeds people will do in the Masjid! Salah, Quran, Tarawih, Education, Dawah, and so much more! And what will be the result? Allah will in sha Allah build for you Palace in Jannah made of bricks of gold and silver!

Go for it, and do not look back! This Sadaqah is what will remain for you, not what you leave in your bank.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“O son of Adam, it is better for you if you donate your surplus (wealth), and if you keep it, it is worse for you. ...” [Sahih Muslim 1036]

Please reflect upon this!

Who of us can say that they follow this advice from the Prophet ﷺ? It is better for us to give our extra savings in Sadaqah, and not only that, the Prophet ﷺ said it worse for us to keep it.

Wallahi, it’s easy to cite such a Hadith but to really implement it is very difficult. In the Hadith, there’s a promise by the one who doesn’t speak from his own desires. He promises us ﷺ that it’s better for us not to save our money, but to spend it in the way of Allah.

The fight!

It’s not easy to grasp this reality because it demands a huge sacrifice of the Nafs. Our Nafs is saying, save it for yourself and your future, while the Messenger of Allah is saying, give it… Since the sacrifice is so difficult, there must be a good reason to do it, right?

The Prophet ﷺ said it is better for us, but how?

Firstly, you’re practically showing Allah that you trust Him SWT and His Messenger ﷺ. You’re putting your Tawakkul into action. And Allah loves those who practice Tawakkul!

Secondly, it’s guaranteed that Allah will substitute what you give Him with what is more valuable to you. If you gave $10 000 to Him, He would replace that! How and when? You don’t know, but it will be in a way and at a time you will benefit from immensely.

Thirdly, in the case of our Masjid, it will be a Sadaqah Jariyah for you. Which means that you will keep getting rewards from the fruits of this Masjid until the Day of Judgement in sha Allah. Every single act of worship that results from this donation will be put on your scale of good deeds.

Fourthly, suppose you donate your savings to Allah. In that case, He will take it in His right Hand and enlarge it and give you up to 700 times in return on the Day no currency will be accepted except for your good deeds. You will in sha Allah get the Ajr for having donated up to $7 000 000!

Fifthly, the Prophet ﷺ promised a house in Jannah for building a Masjid. If your savings are invested in the establishment of this house of Allah, Allah will in sha Allah build you a likewise palace in Jannah.

When we truly think and reflect upon all of these fantastic benefits, we understand why the Prophet ﷺ said it is better for us to donate our savings, and why it is worse for us to keep them.
